Dr Bryan Barrass

I am an international maritime consultant and a visiting ship technology lecturer. 

I specialise in analysing Ship Squat and Interaction problems for ships operating in open water and confined channel conditions.


To date, I have had six books published on maritime studies.

I have worked in the shipping industry since April 1952, resulting in over 50 years of industrial, lecturing and research experience to date.

Experience to date:

Industrial, Lecturing and Research experience

1993-2010 - Consultancy work in Naval Architecture Studies.

1967-2010 - Lecturing at Liverpool University and Liverpool John Moores University in Naval Arch to Masters, Mates, Chief Engineers, to B.Sc. and M.Sc. students on degree work in Maritime Studies.

1963-1967 - Lecturing to ONC students in Shipbuilding and ship theory.

1952-1963 - Draughtsman at Swan Hunters Shipyard in Designing office, Steel office, Outfit office and in the Shipyard itself gaining practical experience.
